Dr. Kathleen O'Rourke — VOICE

Dr. O' offers both singing and piano lessons in an upbeat and non-judgmental environment. She is a classically-trained soprano and music educator. DMA and MM from SUNY: Stony Brook; BM from Barnard College (Columbia University). Dr. O'Rourke specializes in vocal diction, ear-training, acting for singers and college audition preparation. Her singing and piano lessons provide a fun and intellectually-curious music foundation in an upbeat and non-judgmental environment.

“The initial emphasis in our weekly coaching time is on developing stronger sight-reading skills, acquiring a basic understanding of technique, and cultivating keen musicianship skills. Students are assigned a weekly sight-reading assignment as well as repertoire-specific tasks which encompass the review and acquisition of notes and rhythms from your assigned repertoire.

For advanced students, once songs are memorized, the focus moves to performance practice. Major emphasis is given to engaging the imagination while maintaining a solid technique rich with artistic inflection.”
